What is the number I call from Australia to consult? There must be a prefix to 11185 as it doesn't work through Skype as just 1185 or 8611185 either

You may dial in the wrong time when the service is not available. You'd better call during 09:00-16:00 in Beijing Time.

I tried the given number yesterday and today both between the hours of 9:00 to 16:00 Beijing time. On both occasions I heard some Chinese speech but pressing 8 made no difference.

If I can't email China Post, kindly past on my message. Whatever is in the parcel which is unsuitable to mail, please remove.
The remainder can be then sent to us in Australia.

Who is the sender? Could you get connected to the sender and let him call China Post in China?

I sent the parcel to myself while I was on holiday in Xining. That would be an easy solution if we knew anyone there.

We took the items to the Post Office and they were individually wrapped by a staff member. I was surprised to hear they did not pass any security checks as they were packed by China Post staff.

Do you have any Chinese friend? As English service is hard to get, you'd better let a friend who could speak Chinese to make the call for you.

I do not have easy access to a Chinese speaking person. You write such beautiful English, Daisy, surely you could make representation for me. I simply want what is possible to be sent mailed to me. If I could email the post office in Xining that would work as well. Written instructions are less ambiguous than people talking in their second languages on what may be a poor connection over such a large distance. Perhaps you could request assistance from a supervisor?

I could make the call for you in China. But they need me to provide all the information about the sender and the recipient to make sure I'm not a cheater. The information may include your address, name, contact number, postal code.

I also worry about although I make the call for you, they couldn't deliver it again to you as it needs to be paid again. As it's returned by showing couldn't be passed the customs check, I think it also couldn't be delivered successfully although they deliver it again. What's in the parcel?

The parcel contained souvenirs and clothes. It was checked by the Postal staff as they wrapped each piece individually. If there was anything unsuitable to mail they should have informed me and not put in the parcel. The responsibility and the cost of return should be accepted. I had no knowledge of Chineses postal law and accepted the opinion of staff which was maybe misplaced.

It is the responsibility of China post to open the parcel , remove anything which should not be posted and sent it at their cost. I will probably lose an item I could easily have brought home with me due to the advice of China Post staff. I should not have to pay again!!

China Post should be responsible for the parcel. If you couldn't get connected to China Post, it's hard for you to deal with it.

Dear Daisy,

I certainly agree that China Post is responsible. we just have to find a way for me to contact them directly. I would hate to lose the wonderful reminders of our trip your country. In fact we bought so much we had to mail them home as they were getting heavy to carry!

Perhaps you could ask your supervisor if special consideration could be made so can email someone in China Post who can solve the problem?

I found out the parcel had been rejected by security by putting the code myself into the China Post website. What I was hoping for was some assistance in rectifying the situation .

You should see it as a challenge of your skills rather than just practicing your English.
