I got an email saying there was a delivery attempt and to contact China Post for the next steps what do i do about this?

You'd better contact the seller as soon as possible to ask for re-delivery or refund. The parcel was in your country on March 15 but was returned back to China after that. Now, it's in China and the seller should has got it or will get it recently.
