EA470564455CN - Expired ?

Hello,
The tracking of EMS package EA470564455CN indicates that over 2 months ago it was handed over to the carrier/airline.
Yet this never took place and the China Post EMS authority now claims to have somehow lost it! Though with no explanation as to how this happened.
The package contained important export documents and its loss has incurred considerable financial damages; who is responsible for this?
In addition, ChinaPostalTracking now shows this EMS No. as "Expired" (next to a red square denoting time) - what does "Expired" mean here?
Please advise. Thank you.

If the package couldn't be devliered in 75 days, it's thought to be expired in tracking system automatically. This is because most of the packages could be delivered in 75 days in normal.
If it's lost, the sender could ask for compensation from China EMS directly.
