Delivery failed

According to Amazon, my item has had two unsuccessful delivery attempts due to a signature being required, and the day of the latest attempt shows my item being at a sorting facility an hour away. I did not receive an email or any printed notice either time the delivery attempts were supposedly made, and USPS has the tracking number marked “Label Created, not yet in system”. I am very confused about what is going on with my package, and I do not wish it to be sent back to the sender, which is what I am worried that it being at the sorting facility means.
