Why do I need to pay taxes on the Christmas present I'm receiving? How do I contact someone about to resolve this situation? Where can I go to find it?

Hi Tyler LeCompte,

The tax is charged by your local courier. The seller should let you know that there may be some tax changed in your country, if you don't want to pay for it, you can require the seller to pay it for you.

My parcel has been stuck at customs in Guangzhou for over two weeks. I was left a voice mail in Chinese, which I cannot speak. An online tracker states my item is stuck in customs awaiting tax payment. Is this something I am expected to pay? Is there an English language contact for me to resolve this with?
