The DRC’s tariff customs structure (import duties) includes three rates as follows: 5 percent for equipment goods, rough raw materials, agricultural and veterinary supplies, and unassembled equipment; 10 percent for large consumed food items, industrial inputs, spare parts, items for social services such as for hospitals and disabled persons; and 20 percent for clothing, furniture, cigarettes and other finished products.

In addition to tariffs, there are a multitude of taxes collected on imported goods by several government agencies with often limited or no coordination. Added to official tariffs on imported goods, the additional taxes importers pay on goods and services range between 0.59 and 40 percent.

Delivery usually takes 20-40 days if you send by air.

Sending an international parcel to a post office (0 reply)

Dear Customer Service Team,

is it possible to send an international parcel to a post office? A friend of mine is studying in Xi'an at the moment. She lives in the dormitory of the university. Unfortunately she don't have any information about receiving parcel directly at the university.

The parcel would be send with DHL from Germany. As far as my research goes, it would be handed over for delivery to China Post as soon as it arrives in the People's Republic of China.

Would it be possible to send the parcel to one of your post offices near by, so she could pick it up there?

And if so, would she need to register at the post office before?

I have read through your FAQs but have’t really found any issues similar to it. If you could give me any information about this topic, it would be really appreciated.

Eagerly awaiting your reply,
Jan
