Composed with digital numbers, the postal code (zip code) is used when mailing a letter or posting a parcel. A postal code usually stands for a certain area that the residents or companies located and used for mailing to improve the efficiency and accuracy. China postal code is composed of 6 digital numbers. The first two numbers stands for Province (Autonomous Region or Municipality), the third one for postal district (a province is divided into many postal districts), the fourth for Country or City and the last two are for delivery zone.

Abbreviation of China Postal Code

For postal code of Chinese cities, the last two numbers is zero. For easily remember, it can be omitted.
For example:

Beijing: 100000 can be abbreviated to 1000
Shanghai：200000 to 2000 　　
Tianjin：300000 to 3000 　　
Chongqing：400000 to 4000

Hong Kong and Macau Postal Code

Postal code for Hong Kong is 999077 and Macau 999078. These are given by China, but in fact you don’t need to fill postal code for them when mailing.
